Science Shop

The Science Shop is a Community Research Resource allowing students from virtually any programme at the University the opportunity to work with community and voluntary groups throughout Northern Ireland.

Students use the skills they have gained through studying at the University to benefit a community group by completing a project, putting the theory of the lecture theatre into practise in the community.

Under and postgraduate students can undertake projects including, Social & Policy Issues, Health Research, Legal Issues, Environmental Requests, Information and Technology Questions, Criminology or Criminal Justice Issues and Communication requests. All participating students receive a certificate detailing their action-based project as well as an opportunity to be considered for an annual cash prize for the best project.

This year the UU Science Shop introduced an innovative i-card. This business card-sized Science Shop CD connects you directly to an online list of available community-based research projects. i-cards are available on all four University campuses in libraries, the Students' Union and Careers Offices.
